Dozens of white farmers from Zimbabwe have ended up in Mozambique after armed youths seized their lands and gave them to black Zimbabweans. Mozambique has welcomed the farmers' expertise and investment. Al Jazeera's Hamza Mohamed reports from Chimoio in central Mozambique.

For those of you who are worried about Mozambique having the same problem that Zimbabwe did one day regarding white farmers, you can allay those fears because in Mozambique, the government owns all the farmland and it's not for sale. What these white farmers are doing is leasing the land from the government at attractive rates. Thus, no farmer owns the land they are farming. All farmers, black and white, are basically tenant farmers who work for the state. These leases can be as long as 50 years and as long as the land is productive, the state does not intervene. It remains to be seen how this will play out in the long run but so far, it seems that everyone has benefited from this scheme.

What the !! Look at 1:17 , the so called farmer watching other people work !!! He started afresh with nothing (or so they say in the video)so how come he's lazying around and other people do all the work for him, there's something seriouly wrong here !!!

This land belongs to a who live it. Let us farm it also. Not only white people. Race is not the question. We farmed and hunted in the past.We need to do the same but use modern ways.

We need more black farmers Period. These Zimbabwean white farmers are not successful with their yield because their white, but because Europe has a large developed history of farming that has an efficient production level that has evolved from centuries of un-disturbed civilisation (compared to centuries of famine in Africa). White farmers are not special, their just very lucky to find land in Africa to grow their crops.

In 10-15 years most of the black locals will forget the past and claim those "whitey's" are putting them in the poor house... Remember just a few years ago it was those "White Colonialist's" fault that all the blacks were poor (so said those who burnt out or killed white farmers/families). Now after a few years of starvation because those same blacks could not even grow turnips, now come humbled to have whitey back working the fields once again. Remember 'it's whitey's fault' for all the ill's in the world.

Land is only part of the equation... You can seize all the land you want but you can't seize business connections and end markets willing to buy products, nor the technologies required to keep the business going and expanding, nor the practical know-how gained through years or decades in the trade. The primary purpose of economic activity is not the promotion of justice or equality; economy is about what works and what brings profit. Justice and equality can be addressed to some extent through taxation of the profit generated by these businesses but not by seizing and "redistributing" the businesses themselves willy-nilly to people who have no clue what to do with them or how to manage them...
