We celebrated the launch of Farm to Table Cycle from our home town of Bridgeport, CT. While the day began overcast, by the time people filled Bridgeport's McLevy Green to cheer on our cyclist (and of course shop for some delicious produce), the sun was peeking through the clouds. Glenn, cyclist and photographer, got on the road north bound for day one of 16 with roughly 80 miles to go for the day. He just radioed in that he is calling it a day in East Lyme, CT after a long hike up Route 1. He will set off bright and early Friday morning for Providence, with roughly 70 miles to go. We have an exciting weekend filled with farmers market events, farm visits, and three farm to table dinners. If you live in or around Providence/Warren, RI, please give us a shout, stop by the Broad Street farmers market on Saturday morning or email us so we can grab coffee! Many thanks to Wholesome Wave's board member, Adrienne Farrar Houel for getting things going today, to Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch who spoke enthusiastically about the great progress in Bridgeport, and Ramon Agosto of the Connecticut Department of Veterans Affairs. And of course, we owe a great deal of gratitude to two of our Farm to Table Cycle sponsors, Shearwater Coffee and Whole Foods Fairfield who offered samples to market shoppers, and to Sugar and Olives, a local CT farm to table restaurant.
