Heifer International has a family-oriented, hands-on educational farm in Rutland, MA. This is within reasonable reach of the Boston area, also not very far from Worcester, and quite accessible from CT, RI, and NH. The Heifer Farm on-site "Global Village" provides opportunities to see how homesteads look and operate in 8 different parts of the world. Heifer Farm is open to the public, with site visits generally free of charge. Many hands-on, tailored educational opportunities are offered for youths and adults as day-events, or over week-ends and for longer special programs, all at modest expenses to participants. Enjoy new chicks, hens, spring lambs, ewes, cattle, black pigs, goats....maybe even get to pet a few. Visiting Heifer Farm is an opportunity for many ages to explore together. It is a treasured destination for family sharing, church groups, scouts, and other service organizations with an interest in the world beyond our borders.
