Dr. Matthew Turner of North Carolina prepares a herd of three-week-old piglets to be weaned from their mothers and transitioned to dry feed and water. He explains that raising pigs in the barn will protect them from environmental risks and provide them warm, comfortable, draft-free housing and plenty of natural feed and water for them to grow. He also ensures that the staff is adhering to the farm's animal welfare policy that he authored and instituted, and shares his pride in their attention to animal welfare. Veterinarians On Call is presented by Zoetis.

1:50 - A metal grate is what you call "a comfortable place to lie down"? Come on. Their whole environment is unnatural, uncomfortable and designed to exploit them. No one benefits from it either, not even us. Check out Cowspiracy, Forks Over Knives and Earthlings, to name a few.

Murdering animals in cold blood is animal abuse. You are proud that you murder defenseless animals?

what website did this hick print out his veterinary degree from?

Awwww they are so cute! I made a decision a few years back to become a vegetarian! I did it because I didn't feel right eating meat! One day I decided I just couldn't eat meat! It just didn't have the heart to! I will support those who do but for me I can no longer eat them!

hey he's a great man for what he does. It's better than hurting inset baby piglets with hate, voilence, carelessness, and cruelty
-
there are other resources of protein. no need to eat meat if there are other alternatives
-
I hate pigs.

My qurstion is. What do they do witj all the pigs when they grow up

BACON BACON BACONNNN !!

just a question - maybe it'll help don't know - for the smaller pigs having a problem would there be a way to maybe put them back on a sow for a few days in another area because they're smaller and it would be more beneficial for their growth? They're probably the runts i'm guessing. Really nice setup though. I agree with some places getting those drafts and the wind can whip up all of a sudden. Very nice place!

PETA never shows these nice facilities do they? Looks like a good place!

They are sooooo cute! I really should not eat meat

Sucks that their tails have been docked, but I guess it's a necessary evil for larger farms, and I know weaning at three weeks is standard, but it still feels early and stressful. Otherwise it looks like a good operation.

Hope these vets are all vegan! How can you honestly say you love animals and eat them too?
-
Even if these pigs end up as food, they should still be treated with consideration and allowed a life of comfort for as long as possible. Kudos to these farmers :)

Thank you VOC. Finally a family friendly, safe, food-raised video. So sick of seeing broken, twisted babies and adults, Yes, they are food eventually, but that doesn't give us a right to slap them around and hurt them. Thank you vets, I love your videos
