Amanda Austin and Tristan Bynum are newlyweds turned urban farmers. Each in their late twenties, they transplanted Cardo's Farm Project from its original home in Ponder, Texas to Denton just last year. The two have since transformed their small piece of land and its' 1880s-era farmhouse into a venture aimed at feeding and educating the local community. As young entrepreneurs, Amanda and Tristan task themselves with bringing the local food movement to Denton. They struggle to make the farm a sustainable business in an area known for its pastoral heritage but late to the organic and local food trends that are popular in larger cities. With strong ties to the community and passion for their work, these young farmers are reconnecting Denton to its food in a grassroots, organic way.
