the issue here is that the poor do not have their oen land to grow food as it does take up space. Now you have veggies but what about a cow, chicken pig etc can the poor fit that all into their tiny apartments or homes?

I am a new gardener and love the hobby. I love John's videos, whether I learn something or not, it teaches me a lot. I am however tired of hearing the bashing of sports and physical activity for kids. What is wrong with baseball? or having a back yard to play in? Physical activity is almost as important as the food you eat. You could eat plenty of health food and greens, but if you sit on the couch 24 hours a day eating it, you will not be healthy. I certainly agree there needs to be more education of healthy eating and how to grow your own food, but why does John, and the commenters below, insist on saying we need less sports and physical activity? Can't we have, and don't we need both?

There's something wrong with using the word 'them' now? Oh no, lets not call things the way they are, don't want any feelings to get hurt! -_- It's a great idea to teach those on food stamps how to garden so they can provide more for themselves and their families and rely less on government assistance. I'm over the hypersensitive political correctness nonsense going around today. People get butthurt over the most ridiculous things.

I think its critical to teach people to grow food, but you should not take food stamps away if people are at risk of malnutrition from extreme poverty. People who get food stamps may still be working full-time earning minimum wage. If anything, people should be able to use food stamps at their local farmers' market and Urban Ag should be encourage everywhere.

With high inflation, energy costs, many global conflicts, declining farmer population, non-healthy food production, we NEED to learn and grow more food in whatever spaces we have. Thanks John for another nice vid.

Love you video's!!! Thank you for caring and sharing!

I love all the field trips as I do all of your videos! Such an inspiration! A great thing would be for communities to start these types of programs for kids (and adults) to learn to grow food as an activity after school & weekends such as Sports, etc. I think Sports can be an important part of growing up but growing food is an important part to survive! I hope to teach some kids in my town soon. Thanks John.

From that comment it makes me think you never listen to one episode of the survival podcast. We say things like "dont judge" and yet you have judged me. because Glock is in my user name I believe in the "end of the world." interesting logic......
-
Although, with a name like "glockman" I may be whistling into the wind here!

I do all the survivalpodcast hugulkultur and economics stuff also. But you have to admit, there is a huge difference between the upbeat, positive attitude of John and the "world's going to end, hole up with your gardens and guns" attitude of the survivalist community. Honestly, after watching both, I have to say that John is probably the more responsible member of society/citizen. The survival community is a bit too far toward the "apocalypse fantasizing" end of the spectrum for my taste lately.

You should go to England and do a video with Jonathon Wallace. You have much in common, but have different farms and farming styles. I think the contrast would be very fascinating and you would both benefit from the interaction. No, I am not paying for the flight to England!

oh wow easy greenhouse supports I should have done that !!!!
