In honor of Veterans Day - This home movie was recently found in the film footage we had digitized, and we're posting to share with town residents. Some time after the war, the town planned this celebration to honor all of the young men and women who served during WWII. I'm not sure of the date, as my Uncle has explained, it took some time for all of those who served to actually be sent home. This may be the summer following the end of the war. This clip was filmed by Victor Lundberg, father of Kenneth and Arnold Lundberg. Most of the clip is taken in front of the old Bradstreet Block, which is the site of the Webster Bank on Main Street today. The latter part of the clip is facing East Main Street, with the parade turning toward the Catholic Church. Arnold Lundberg (1927 - 2007) is the father of Residents Norma (Lundberg) Kryzanowski, and Nancy (Lundberg) Vigeant, and Britta (Lundberg) Anderson, resident of Simsbury, CT. Kenneth Lundberg, age 92, resides in Barrington, RI today, where he had raised his family. His Children, Marilyn, Janet, Debbie and Eric spent summers and holidays in CT, and continue to hold Thomaston in their hearts. Hope you enjoy this glimpse of Thomaston ....
