Featuring Doug Young of Spruce Haven Farm in Union Springs, NY. A 1st generation farm that started with 120 cows in 1987 and milks 1,950 today! They pride themselves on not only successfully growing a reputable herd of dairy cows along with high quality crops, but also in providing an environment where people can grow as well. The role of a dairy farmer is more than a job, a paycheck, or a way of life larger - it’s one’s heart and soul. It’s their purpose – and you’ll be able to see that on their face and hear it in their voice. This video series, produced by the New York Animal Agriculture Coalition, features dairy farmers who have all embraced the responsibility to do good, do right and do 365-days a year, what many have opted not to do – the selfless act of providing for others. Whether those others be cows, their family, their employees, their next door neighbors, ancestors, people around the world or the future generation – dairy farmers are a passionate, committed and hard-working bunch that are valued members of our community. Here are their stories. For more information about New York's 5,000 dairy farms, visit www.nyanimalag.org.
