Over 11 million total views. Now there's a book: "...superbly crafted...A must read." -Gen. Anthony Zinni, US CENTCOM Commander (Ret.) "This book trumps most of our accounts of the global warming crisis." --author Bill McKibben "Al Gore should share his Nobel peace prize." -The "New Scientist" "This is a tremendous book and well worth anyone's time to read.... You're in for a treat—Craven is funny as well as exceptionally clear, and wise." --Kim Stanley Robinson, Hugo and Nebula Award-winning author of the Mars Trilogy and Science in the Capital "This is a terrifically thoughtful book.... Cravens book shines an illuminating floodlight on how we think about global warming." --Ross Gelbspan, author, "The Heat Is On" and "Boiling Point" On Amazon: http://tinyurl.com/metp8o Greg Craven (that's me!), the creator of "The Most Terrifying Video" never intended to write a book. It just sort of happened. All as a result of the two-year back-and forth I've had with the YouTube community about this video and its follow up marathon "How It All Ends." So now "What's the Worst That Could Happen? A Rational Response to the Climate Change Debate" is available from Amazon and other sellers through the links at www.gregcraven.org, as well as your local bookstore (I hope!). Check it out if you're intrigued by the argument in this video. On Amazon: http://tinyurl.com/metp8o Trailer for the book: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7e10ZNpogv4 What the critics are saying: http://www.gregcraven.org/en/the-book/endorsements-and-criticisms Download a 25-page preview: http://www.gregcraven.org/en/the-book/download-preview-of-whats-the-worst-that-could-happen In the press: http://www.gregcraven.org/en/the-book/press-coverage-for-the-book ---------- THE REASON THE COMMENTS ARE CLOSED ON THIS VIDEO is that most of the criticisms of what's presented here have been addressed by the bruisingly thorough 7-hour How It All Ends video project, the discussion is happening over there. I spent months combing through literally tens of thousands of critical comments to find every single objection, criticism, "Yeah but," and "You missed a spot" that I could to this video. You might find the results interesting, and hopefully, helpful: http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=92EE5DBE2987982F You can post comments there. But to tell the truth, the conversation has moved even farther along, since the criticisms to those videos gave rise to the book, which now has its own discussions going at http://www.manpollo.org/forums/index.php.

It seems that the threat of a Great Depression / Economic collapse due to action on climate change is becoming less likely. More studies are showing that the cleantech industry creates more jobs than the fossil fuel industry. By incentivizing the retro-fitting of homes and buildings with solar, wind, geothermal and EV charging infrastructure we create a lot of good paying jobs while combatting climate change. Maybe the deniers are overblowing economic impact because they don't have their money invested in the right place. That does not mean that the economy is guaranteed to tank however due to a wholesale shift from a petro-chemical based economy to a cleantech economy,

Notice how Warmists will never ever give you a cost/benefit analysis. They don't want to admit that the billions they want you to give them won't change the climate in the least.
-
Here is evidence of faulty logic in above video -1) Anthropologists confirmed agricultural farming in a warm climate in parts of Greenland between 900 and 1400 AD not associated with AGW. 2) Decisions based on a precautionary principle can be dangerous and once we pass beyond that point the precautionary door locks behind us with not ways/means to back track. That could mean 400 years of persistently wrong direction.
The real risk in the video matrix is in the upper left box.....its called a major shift from individual country self-governance toward UN world level governance....and away from democratic systems and towards dictatorial leadership. Panic response leads to further environmental slip back as has occurred with wind and PV SOlar. -
There are too many people calling Climate Change Hoax and I'm talking brilliant Minds too! Right Now we need jobs and literally can not afford to be held up by what ifs, especially when our neighbor countries don't care and are out producing us like crazy! We may not survive the catastrophe but the way the poverty is and is getting worse... I'm Sorry but I'm not willing to live in a world of Mass Poverty! Especially on a what if argument. People in the US are living like shit and only surviving on Credit! We need to focus on that DOOM because it's literally Months Away! We will not survive as a National if we don't bring our jobs back and that is a fact no one can argue!

11For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. 12Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. 13And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

Sure, but the end result is the same, is it not? In today's society a global depression would lead to the same economics, political social and environmental catastrophes. Someone will push the button and start a war because he things he is more important than his neighbor. Or he has more rights to the scarce resources available. Were fucked either way.

CO2 -------------- Actions
---------- Do Nothing --- Do Something
True ----------A ----------------B
False ---------C ----------------DOption A is CO2 causes warming and is a problem but we chose to do nothing.
Option B is CO2 causes warming and is a problem but we chose cut emissions.Option C is CO2 isn't a problem and we do nothing.
Option D is CO2 isn't a problem and we do something.A)
Temperatures rise but our inter-glacial ends and we have offset the -4C
drop by 2-3C so we are not bad. We have to relocate people who are
affected.B) No amount of cutting human CO2 will help. Sorry but
the entire world could go to zero and it would not make any difference.
We would have to pull it from the atmosphere.C) We slide back into a glaciated state and everyone in the northern hemisphere moves south.
D) We have wasted trillions on reducing CO2 and as the glaciation resumes
our oceans pull CO2 out of the atmosphere and once it goes below 150 PPM
and all plant life above the oceans dies (followed shortly after by
most of the animals and humans). -
this is good

Climate change is real. stfu

This isn't global warming this is a natural cycle and he is a nut job.

Absolute nonsense. Those arguing there is climate change have provided
no evidence. They say that the sun has grown twice the size in one year?
Don't believe it. They say that clouds are getting so hot there are
reports of some of them actually burning? Don't believe it. They say
that we will all need to drink twelve more glasses of water a day than
we do now in one years time. Don't believe it. No-one can drink that
much water - AND WE WON'T NEED TO BECAUSE THE SCIENTIESTS SAYING THAT
ARE LYING -
Please, my good sir.. Explain what the point of the video was.
-
Although climate change is real this argument is not good. I'm retarded and even I can see you could make it about anything. Isn't this the religious (well, what if you're wrong) argument?
-
60s and 70s is was global cooling
80s and 90s global warming
Now its global climate change
Dont you fucking liberal ever get tired of all your fucking lies. Look bro climates will always change thy get cold and they get hot its called earth you fucking fake. -
I'm so fucking terrified dude omg I'm shaking this guy is scary omg dude this is worse than these god damn horror movies bro I'm so scared Imma have nightmares

3:00 Correction is due. The box should read: Cost Neutral. Cheap & Renewable Energy.
We'll end up with cheapest forms of renewable energy with carbon tax becoming a negligible footnote. And introduction of carbon tax won't increase our tax burden overall since more carbon tax will mean less tax from other sources such as corporate taxes, for example. In essence, this initiative will merely serve to reallocate the tax in such a way as to apply maximal pressure on activities that lead to greatest carbon footprint, encouraging the development of more sustainable long term options and thereby help wean us off reliance on fossil fuels for our energy needs. In short, the overall tax burden per capita will remain the same, if not decrease with time - making for a solid win-win proposition in either case. Of course, since global warming is as much a fact as gravity at this point (fact corroborated by 98% of scientists world-wide, people who actually study the subject matter as opposed to merely talking about it) we really have no choice but to start to act now.
So whereas the conclusion was correct, it is made even more apparent by the facts stated above.
