they are already killing us, why won't we stand up and fight back at all cost? I'm not afraid to fight back, no fear of death
-
whoever edited this movie made me cringe, unnecessary shitty piano music and most shots lasted too long and needed to be cropped
-
Smh...Vincent Simmons is innocent.I'm not saying that because he's black..I'm saying it because I watched the documentary on him.The 2 white bitches are lying. How fucking selfish. And what the fuck is up with the state of Louisiana???it's like a foreign country in the United States. Some of these men Should've been released. It's sickening, And it's sad

Seems to me that if the majority of these prisoners would have had decent upbringings and love when they were growing up, they wouldn't be in that horrible place now...

wow!! I'm English and I am speechless, I've heard story's about the south, never did I think it was like this, what was it like in the years preceding this, I'm white and I feel like apologizing, I could not defend this if I lived here, I'm sure there were good people about, even during the Nazi stranglehold of Europe, during the war there were good people there too, so by the law of averages there must have been folk who did not follow this agenda, unfortunately its usually the poor who have no voice who give the most, less than 1% of the population own the majority or control the wealth on this planet, been that way for a very long time, they sure won't share with you and I, and there's all us fools bickering about skin color, while we are distracted with pettiness we are making it easy for our planet to be robbed from under us, no one owns it, we are custodians, time to take it back and live free people, sounds great doesn't it? you forget greed, there's always those that can be bought off, solidarity, black and white, do not be distracted.

Most of the comments on here are blammung whites for these black mens incarceration. Walk a mile in my shoes and you might change your tune. My father and brother both did hard time at Angola. My brother remains there today after being shot by five police officers in New Orleans 2012. My brother was 28 years old and on his way to work when he was stopped by police. The officers fired 13 shots into my brothers car after they thought he had a weapon. After he lay bleeding out they searched the car and found no weapons, only work clothes. He sits in Angola today with a brain injury from being shot. No officers were prosecuted and the story made no national news.

That place at the time is brutal but it doesnt seem like a violent place.. Everyones working and going to church . Nobody fighting , yelling gettting in trouble... Seems that way at least

Motherfucking arrogant Parole officers!!!
-
legalised slave trade, seen documentaries on officers arresting black men on purpose to work the fields back in the early to mid 1900's. And they would do 'recruiting' or a lot more arrests during times of harvest.

Witherspoon is an inpressive man.

I worked at Angola prison from 1993 to 2000, at CSU1/CCR on B-Team. I was a a Corrections Sergeant. Louisiana Penitentiary is a world of it's own.

People have to realize that #1 this documentary was made about 30 years ago, #2 this is the deep south, there are still remnants of people who's ancestors fought in the civil war, so the racism still goes on down there as of today. ( but then again, racism happens everywhere you go) and yes i believe that putting people to work will create alot of positive things and quell some of the violence that happens in that place.

Don't go down especially to these southern states thinking you're smart committing crimes cause they will show you how smart you really are

the parole board officer was once a police officer is a racist. I would not feel safe with him alone. he got the certificate the girls were virgins after the incident, then he keeps saying I know he did it. he must have done it many times or he must be getting favour from these girls. he too will have horrible death for telling lies. karma will get him soon.
