"The word anthropocine is one we hear a lot...The rise of ethno-nationalist populism is a global phenomenon" Now I know where Reggie Watts gets his material, from Benjamin Bratton.

Holy shit these two idiots...EXPERTS? The guy on the right is just mumbling and rumbling on and on and i'm 100% sure he is not saying anything meaningful.

Bratton looks so frustrated

Of course the fundamental flaw underlying all this research and all these personality types driving it, is the attitude or tone of trying to tell nature (which includes humans and the rest of the cosmos) what the future is going to be like, instead of asking it
Given that even people (of certain dispositions, not unlike these people here I'd imagine) tend to not like being bossed around, do you think the originator of such a species (whether evolution, or some long bearded guy in the sky) would?
For all that so called brain power, justifying all that planetary funds being exhausted , you people are surely quite dense.
And so it becomes a battle of wills then? Against nature? Which you are an aspect of? Talk about a lose lose situation. Congratulations morons! -
Does someone know what is it that has happened the day before the talk, that they refer to couple of times?
-
I cant wait to read his 3 new books coming out.
-
I think it's sad they ended the conversation at a crucial talking point...

I think Kurzweil is pretty conservative. I think by 2025, machines would be able to match human intelligence

When did this take place?

lol kurz is a little washed, benj and viv are pretty on though - all kind of under the theory curve but bratton makes a good stab at it, he's making a path at least, and viv had some wicked prediction telos thing going on, they both pretty much are in circles above kurz with his 3d printing and lego speech - i would love to get them (sans kurz) on with a couple other theory-side like stiegler or sloterdijk, wish kittler was still around to speak, call it a technocene conference or something - even someone like badiou would be a nice grain of salt or heck through some lacanians in there, they seem to be popular - you know i bet some like thomists would introduce a nice angels on the head of a pin aspect too and def get some rappers on there too because i want to see who can get coaxed into laying down some techne flows - speaking of, should probably get some aesthetics peeps on too, more generally, and someone to intermittently hit a high hat or something - we've got to make this happen

Has Kurzweil said anything new since 2000?
