Took me a very long time to get a darknight stone. I got mostly raw stones and some of the other stones. Afterwards I got a darknight stone, first try from the crystal lizard in the Majula Pit. Drop through the pit as if going to the Gutter (skipping grave of saints) and you will see it.

What's the deal with dark knight stones i got 56 stones from those basilisk and not 1 darkknight stone, And 30 sunlight medals whilst farming to boot. and 10 twinkling titanite. This game aint finished made.

good stuff, have you tried soul farming in the undead crypt where those stone tablets spawn those siren dudes?
