Symphonic Cat is a very well put together 16hh 2009 Gelding by Forest Wildcat, out of a Cryptoclearance Mare (Quality breeding going back to Storm Cat, Secretariat, Mr. Prospector, & Native Dancer x3), bred by Larry Mabee of Golden Eagle Farms. He made 5 starts with only one placing and earnings of $6,710. As a part of the 2013 RRTP Makeover, he's been carefully restarted (90 days) as a Western Performance horse (Barrel Racing, Team Sorting, Gymkhana) but has trail many miles and also been shown and placed as a Hunter (flat - Professionally and by Youth/Amateur) and schooled & coursed up to 2'3" fences. He also participated in the CA Mid State Fair Cattle Drive, moving 100 head of cattle down 5 miles of city street, through cars & traffic, into a noisy crowded fairgrounds, just 2 weeks into his retraining. He's very quiet and good-minded with a quite temperament, and takes new things in stride. We'd like to get him going on Barrels, but feel that he's not grown into himself quite enough for advanced training. In the meantime we've been keeping him mentally & physically fit and occupied with more low-key things such as Hunter flat-work and cattle work. He's pretty cowy...Particularly likes team sorting, and is very eager to get after a cow. He's good going into the head to break them up, and will really chase down or cut a cow. He has a nice Hunter-pace with very big bold movement, without being too forward. We like our horses to work on a relatively loose rein and he has never been forced into a headset. As he warm up, he naturally starts to carry himself in a nice round frame, without having to be held there. He has an extended trot that would make anyone swoon. We hauled him all the way from the CA Coast to Baltimore MD in October. He travels very well...Eats & drinks, and kept his weights (and sanity!). We made many stops and he goes with anything. From unloading at truck stops to stretch legs, to trail riding breaks in IL, to spending the night in strange barns in AZ, OK, IL, PA, and MD. He's a trooper! He was a total rock star doing Team Sorting & Barrel Racing demos in from of huge crowds in fron of the finish line on the track at Pimlico Race Course...Also giving a 20 minute individual Gymkhana demo. He was just never designed to be a racehorse. Yes, he's wicked fast, but you can breezing him down the backstretch at 10pm by the shadows of the streetlights, then pull him up and drop the reins. After the Opening Ceremonies, he was the only horse to leave the track being ridden bareback in a halter & rope. On our way home we were asked to do a Ca. Gymkhana demo for a 4H club in IL. Before our demo there was a Cowboy Mounted Shooting demo. That was his first experience with gun fire & smoke, and he was totally unfazed. He's got enough talent for a more experience rider to have fun with, but is well mannered enough to make a nice Amateur / youth mount (He's even toted around 4 year old leadliners)! This guy has dabbled in everything and is ready for 'his person' to come along and finish him in the discipline of their (and his) choice. Cat has very nice conformation, with the more old-fashioned big bone style build. Nice solid feet (Shod, but can likely go barefoot once a little more heel is put on), clean legs with short cannons, and a very balanced hip & shoulder. He's UTD on all Vaccinations & coggins, had his teeth floated 9-23, and new shoes all the way around on 9-25. I also have his previous health records from Golden Eagle (Including geld. date & 2 year Float date.) As a 4 year old, this horse has an unbeatable resume, however, he has NEVER been pushed or asked to do anything he's not ready for. His accomplishments speak for his incredible mind & talent. Needless to say, this is one of those once in a lifetime horses. I really don't want to sell him, and though I know he'd make a great addition to our lesson horse herd, I think it would be a waste to take such a young & obviously talented horse and make them a school horse. Asking $5,000, SERIOUS inquires only please. Price will increase with additional training.
