Kay Kohler inherited her Snohomish County family farm property, which had been in her family since the 1930s. She never developed the land. This property was valued by the Snohomish County Assessor at $718,000, but Snohomish County wanted to take much of her property to bulldoze and build a retaining pond and expand a road. After they paid her $404,000, Snohomish County decided to keep the property and take the money back from Kay Kohler. The County succeeded in keeping Kay's family property and taking most of their money back. After legal costs, Kay Kohler is left with nothing.
