Idiot Conservative peer Lord Ridley argues the line Elizabeth Truss has taken that solar power generation is ugly, waste of space, stop using up farming land..... but somehow has no problem using this same farming land NOT for food production, but for creating useless biofuel - biofule takes more energy to prioduce than it gives back. Surely making biofule IS an environmentally idiotic tactic. Recorded from BBC2 HD, Newsnight, 20 October 2014.

Its good news that we have solar as an alternative fuel. Obviously all we need now is an alternative food and all will be okay. lmao.

There gone the famously beautiful English countryside. England will look very ugly. Then 1 will ask environment? What environment?
-
The title is misleading. It suggests that there is such a thing as a useful Tory.
-
I look forward to the so-called 'Liberal Democrats' being out of government.

Solar power isn't a real alternative just yet. I view Solar, Wind and Bio Fuels as a work in progress. It may be about 5 or 10 years until we have the ability to match the power that current coal and nuclear power plants create at the same or cheaper cost of running those plants.
To compete with Drax Power station which produces around 25% of the UK's power, solar or wind power would need to use 100x the amount of space which Drax currently uses. This is why it's not practical and that we shouldn't be rushing to use them as an alternative.
Same goes for bio fuel which is considered by the UN to be more harmful to the environment then conventional fuels.

I wish Newsnight would employ soundalike or impressionist to imitate Liz Truss the person narrating Truss's quotes is god awful

I see solar as a positive. In the long run they generate more energy for the area of land they take up than wind does as they can still operate through cloud, though at a diminished capacity. That and the fact that solar arrays can be placed over car parks and ontop of buildings as they are not taking up extra room as the room cannot be used for much else. I would rather see more nuclear plants than more solar and wind farms though.

Why is it people who say over population is part of the problem never ready to sacrifice their loved ones? Its always someone else less worthy that has to be sacrificed. Stealth eugenics with a mixture or infanticide.
-
Fact is our fossil fuels are not infinite and when supply does not reach demand we will find our overpopulated world in deep trouble.
We must encourage alternatives in the same vigor as we have done in the past with technology development during wartime. Also, all new builds should have solar panels and existing large buildings such as factories should be covered in solar panels...... It's a start.
The guests in this news vid touched on our food imports, which will be an increasing problem as the population grows. This also applies to all of our needs, all of which lead back to the source...... fossil fuels.
For those that say it is a blight on the landscape. Fucking idiots. Those same fucking idiots were quite happy to level woodland for their houses and out of town supermarkets etc etc etc.
We are in deep shit and don't even realise it. -
intelligent conversation from both of them, surprising!

I am sure the Tories would tax the Sunshine if they could. The LibLabCon are useless.
