Steam on Kauai at Train Days in Lihue on 7/11/2013. Wainiha, owned by McBryde Sugar Plantation, was named for the North Shore stream and could pull up to 50 cars. Sold to Lihue Plantation in 1932, Grove Farm Company bought the locomotive in 1947. It was in use until 1957 making Grove Farm Plantation the last to haul cane by steam. Miss Mabel Wilcox funded its restoration in 1975 Excellent history and interpretation shared from Scott Johnson, resident steam engineer, as usual! Wow, that's the first time I've seen an actual Hawaiian 0-6-2T under fire and running. The whistle sounds great too.
