This is my way of starting a city in SC3000. There are many ways, ofcourse. But making money is the best way to start. Once you have money you can start shaping the town to your liking. Once you know how, starting a city and making money is easy.

How I start my city: 1.open up the game 2.open up cheat engine 3.hack money 4.build new york in a second 5.I miss out all the challenges in the game 6.the game becomes boring thats why using cheats is not fun.

@IIYvesChiefII You don't need those big ugly power lines as long as the next structure is less than 5 blocks within reach of another structure. If you place a waterpump, (polluting) power plant or something else far away from buildings, power lines will be necessary, ofcourse. I often use parks and other small things instead of those big masts. Nobody likes those things. That's why you won't find them in Sim City Societies and Cities XL.

I noticed the power lines in the begin of your city. But I can't really see any more power lines once the city gets bigger. Is it because of the buildings (you said buildings also pass on power) Once you have enough buildings, you don't need power lines anymore?

@Migue261 SImple: give it a try. I think it's about 4 squares. Simply lay down a zone with the power lines 8 blocks away. Keep adding one block (square) at a time and as soon as the zone gets buildings you know the reach of power lines. Streets do not pass on power. Only buildings and power lines. Almost anything you can place passes on power. Streets do not.

@Migue261 Power lines cost money to place them and they cost money in yearly maintenance. that's why I never place more power lines then needed. That's all. There are no known problems with power lines, as far as I know. Never had any problems.

@EndlesslyPT Even more than that. The old city blocks were money makers. When I start a city I don't really care what it looks like, as long as I make money. Once I have enough money I can remove entire suburbs and start all over again, rebuilding them more beautifully, with more parks, efficient railways, etc... Dense zones will turn into nice buildings immediately, too. When you look at my finished cities (if they ever are...) they are always 2nd or 3rd generation, never the original one.

Nice tutorial! Can you describe it in more detail? E.g. how long do you wait (in Sim years, or inhabitants) until you place the first school and the waterpump? Or how many recreational facilities do you place? Thanks again!

It would be nice to give me some time to read your tips without pausing the video every second :(
