Farms: Scottish Salmon Farms Bully Island Residents
Productivity | Information | History | View | Quality
Roc Sandford, resident of Gometra Island off the Isle of Mull, speaks to Don Staniford about the impacts 16 new salmon farm cages will have on the community of Gometra and the marine environment. Roc Sandford and all the islanders of Gometra are opposed to a new super-sized salmon farm. "In my view, if there is anywhere you shouldn't put a salmon farm, it is in the Staffa Archipelago, the wildlife is important, the landscape is important," said Roc Sandford in an interview with The Scotsman newspaper (17 March 2012). "I think this is an internationally valuable resource and it needs our protection." Excellent video...well said, yes, 'you need a summit with everyone concerned discussing the problems of Farming, lands, natural Habitat and more'. We already have Monsanto changing Agriculture worldwide and destroying that arena so why would we allow farming to destroy "Natural Salmon Habitats?". protect the wild Not Corporations! $$$$ They destroy and leave after the harm has been done and they have a few billion dollars in profit (Mixing Natural with Farm raised is insane)With Monsanto, Lands destroyed, people's lives ruined, and natural beauty gone forever! Oil Companies do this too, worldwide, leaving 'Oil Lake Beds 20 feet deep & whole acres of oil & metal' causing cancer and deaths as well as long term harm to the lands. When they first came in they'd say, 'we will CLEAN UP AFTER WE TAKE THE OIL'. LOL yeah, right! Never happens. Try suing them! Takes 30 years & hundreds of lawyers & Millions of dollars. Good Luck Don. Giacomo, from: Milan, italy and Malibu, California

We all know it's none and there hasn't been for well over 10years. The Island is a rich mans playground! Why don't they say anything about the fact that the small handfull of people he had on his side eat salmon. I hate this NIMBY attitude. The number of locals that came and supported the Scottish Salmon Company was amazing. I hate it when people that don't live here try to tell us how to live our lives.

Could you please confirm how many children travel from Gometra to Ulva Primary School?
