A farm in the heart of downtown San Diego. That's the vision of Brandon Martella. But the 24-year-old architect's farm doesn't stretch outward, it rises upward 500 feet --- like a skyscraper greenhouse. http://ow.ly/i7xDm

Singapore already has an urban vertical farm...

Brilliant idea I think. This the kind of thinking that will change the world for the better!

If you were to create a sustainable vertical farm , closed loop system that can produce food 24/7 365 in abundance in a 100 story bld 2 acre plot, would the value of the food being produced drop to near zero? and if so where is the need for monetary exchange ? ....

Hmmm...

Looks like a very economical way of growing food.
Dirt-farmers are all about set it and forget it, then hope and pray nothing goes wrong..
I'd take crisp high brix hydro grown produce, packed with vitamins and flavors, over that cow manure toxic nitrite filled garbage that most "organic" growers produce, any day of the week!
