Located in Ipswich, Russell Orchards is a family-owned business that has been in operation since 1920 and is comprised of a farm, bakery, store and winery. The award-winning winery is unique in that it uses estate-grown fruit to produce a wide variety of unique wines - though none made from grapes... Russell Orchards' fruit wines are made from berries, flowers and stone fruits and exhibit a range of flavors, sweetness, and unique characteristics not found in most grape wines. Each can be enjoyed for sipping, cooking, and as an accompaniment to a number of meals. Additionally, Russell Orchards also produces traditional New England hard ciders - made from their own Baldwin apples - in three styles: Dry, Sweet, and Slightly Sweet. The farm also makes a unique Perry from their own Bosc pears. In this segment, Miranda Russell, one of the owners of Russell Orchards, discusses the history of the winery, explores the vast fields of Orchard, and visits the tasting room inside the farmhouse, one packed with several unique varietals including Strawberry Rhubarb and Dandelion wines. Russell Orchards is located at 143 Argilla Road in Ipswich, MA and wine tastings are available in the farm store every weekend from 12-5 PM. For more information, please visit russellorchards.com.
