The farm has been family owned and operated since its purchase in the mid 1700s. At this time the farm was primarily a homestead and tobacco farm. However, in 1954 Grandpa Jones (now 92 yrs old) decided to try his luck at dairy farming. His passion for dairy cows and dairy farming was passed on to his son Hugh Jones and his grandchildren Thomas and Coley Jones. All of whom, work on the farm today in addition to 4 great full-time employees and 2 part-time milkers. In 2014, Brittany Willing joined the family and the farm crew when she and Thomas (TR) exchanged vows in a ceremony on the farm. A year and a half later, their daughter Hazel joined the ranks and can often be found riding in a tractor with her dad or grandpa (Hugh). There are currently 4 generations of Jones' living on the farm today in addition to approximately 500 animals from baby calves to our oldest retiree Quasi. Quazi can be seen and heard in one of our many pastures thanks to her Swiss cow bell. We farm (own and rent) approximately 800 acres of farm land that is used for growing corn, triticale, and rye grass all of which is used as feed for the cows. We also plant pumpkins and a 4 acre corn patch for our fall festival in October. Website: http://www.richlandsdairyfarm.com
