Animated stereoscopic photographs of African American slaves and unidentified white men on plantations near Charleston, South Carolina, around 1860 by photographers Osborn and Durbec. Published as stereoviews, they were one of the only series of photographs to document slavery in the United States before the Civil War. The building that the slaves are worshiping in is the Zion Chapel which was an Episcopal missionary church. Sources: Library of Congress, New York Public Library.
