Efforts are being made in New Jersey to ban gestation crates from being used in the pig farming industry. These crates confine the pig so that they have minimal movement throughout their entire life. The crates make it so that the only movement allowed is one step in all four directions. Last year a proposed bill on the ban was vetoed by Governor Christie, he asked for a few changes and they complied. Many people now hope that Governor Christie will finally sign the bill to ban these crates. Many celebrities are even jumping on the bandwagon in support of the ban of gestation crates including: Martha Stewart, Danny DeVito and Bill Maher.
