We recently processed the last 50 chickens of the 250 we raised this year on a small farm outside Rutland, VT. I grew up in Rutland, in a family of 11. An amazing local farmer has offered my family use of a small patch of his land, which happens to be only minutes from the typical suburban homes our family occupies in town. These birds are for our freezers only, and for local trade, so it's nice to not worry about selling them. Everyone here is family, except one friend that decided he's been eating chicken sandwiches for years and wanted to experience the process that makes his sandwiches possible. Thank you to our first-timer, for stepping up to the plate, to connect with his food in a more complete way. In this vid, I'm walking him through the first birds of the day. Also, thank you to the chickens in this video. They will nourish my family and community. Their lives and deaths give us meaningful work. And they're tasty!
