What, in poundage, are these livestock being supplemented daily with commercially produced feeds? If you say ZERO....you're a goddamn LIAR. That being established- WHERE do these grain rich supplements come from? What specific farming practices are utilized to facilitate the production OF those grains, ie corn, wheat, barley, rice, and soybean? Commercial farming techniques, that's where. Not knocking this operation, I'm NOT. But without commercially produced supplementation, using modern methods, this farm would be DEAD.

I wish every farmer would enforce his practices.

Polyface farm is a fantastic example of innovation and understanding. Keep up the great work Salatins!

THIS is the way animal farming should be! But for this to work on a larger scale we all need to reduce our meat consumption quite a bit. The only way to satisfy America's lust for meat is through inhumane industrial agriculture. Thanks to the work of Dr.Temple Grandin industrial animal agriculture isn't as bad as it was. But I don't think it's possible to raise animals humanly on a massive scale.
-
This is the farming we need to return to.

I like this gut Joel Salatin, I think he is an ambassador to farming!

I love this clip and I really admire this kind of farming. Keep up the great work.

The detachment of the intellect from the heart is not a condition unique to them. It is the disease of our time, and there is no easy cure for such maladjustment.
-
this farm is a 'repugnancy' zone - leave my animals alone - they are not food

Wake up people, we can clone meat, the tech is there but your mindsets is not.
The ONLY humane meat is cloned meat. -
Grassfed beef is cruelty free. Grain fed beef is hard on cows stomachs, giving them ulcers. These guys are awesome.

A great system, seems like it works well. Just have to accept the fact that if all our meat was grown this way, its going to be very expensive.

What about huge circle like one of the desert crop farms, in the middle you have crop, and around it is a huge outer circle divided by 4 fences rotating slowly so cows, and pigs and chicken move slowly doing full circle within the time you need?
