Pig Business investigates the rise of factory pig farming, a system which abuses animals, pollutes the environment, threatens human health through dangerous overuse of antibiotics, and wrecks rural communities. The film shows how this system which was developed in the USA is now being used in eastern Europe from where the pork, often produced below legal animal welfare standards, is exported to other EU countries putting local farmers out of business. The message is simple; the future is our choice.

So pretty much its the states fault as much as the farmers fault.

Why are they flushing all of that valuable fertilizer, and energy down the creek.
-
who are you to preach to anyone?!,this so called documentary is hypocritical, killing and butchering the animal is cruel enough,it dosent matter how nice you are to the animal before you murder it,how much room you give it to forage and so forth,it's cruel full stop.

I have an issue with this video....It is over 5 years old!!!! Do you think things have improved ....because of your lobbying??? Please update this with CURRENT information!! Smithfield and the others attacked in the video stated they were not aware of the infractions, and would make sure they were corrected immediately!! .....AND, I do not know about other countries, but here in the US, we have LOTS of laws and regulations that MUST be followed and are monitored closely. This might have been true 10-15 years ago, but not now in 2015! Stop being 1 sided!

May I ask you a question.. are you vegan?

The root of the problem goes much deeper than industrial farming. With small and medium sized businesses being driven to extinction in every sector we are quickly approaching the extinction of the middle class. So ironically, it will be only the rich who will be able to afford to buy from "local organic" markets on a regular basis and no matter how much a low income family may want to live healthily it just isn't viable to do so, at least not without great effort or maybe if they are lucky enough to live rurally. Because of this, the vast majority of low income consumers are being forced to buy lower priced mass produced produce in order to survive. One of the results of this is our current obesity problem and unfortunately young people are starting to see kind of shopping this as "the norm". In Germany a small film crew made a documentary about the spaghetti tree farm in Italy and the fresh sauerkraut plantation in Germany and most kids from the city believed it. Although I am trying to do my part it feels like a losing battle.

I find this offensive

How is it misleading? you didn't provide any counter points to what the video discusses. you need to back up your assertions if we are to take your comment seriously.
-
This vid is very biased and untrue in the facts it presents.

Another way to stop this is not eating pork or eating very little. h=That would also be said for Beef or chickens too. I hunt now in Canada just because of all of this. You never know what your eating in grocery stores now.

In Denmark, a large food festival has just denied the danish chapter of Slow Food a showing of this movie, on grounds of the length. The festival is partly sponsored by Danish Crown, the largest meat company in Denmark. Bloggers, foodies and some chefs are nows starting a boykot of the festival.

Guys, if they are not listening burn down the farms. Simple!
