Living Culture spends a sunny spring afternoon at Abundant Life Farm in Dallas, Oregon. Owners Scott & Marylin Jondle discuss their farming practices in raising cattle, lamb, chickens, and pigs- all on open pasture. Before establishing their farm in Dallas, the Jondle family trained with renowned author and rancher, Joel Salatin, at his Polyface Farm in Swoope, Virginia. Salatin wrote the book "You Can Farm," and was featured in the documentary "Food Inc." Living Culture is a monthly television series that showcases cuisine and agriculture in the Pacific Northwest. Our mission is to generate interest in local foods through inspiring and positive media.

Oh my God how sad! I followed up on the murder story just after I read the comments. It is definitely unnerving to realize the people you just watched on video were horribly murdered and have been dead for a few years. :( May their souls rest in peace.

oh dear, it's true! I was thinking that the rumors of these people being murdered was nonsense like so many people post on the internet but I researched it and it's true! Oh wow. How terrible. It's unsettling to be watching a video, enjoying what the people are saying to the camera then scroll down and see people talking about the people in the video I just watched were murdered shortly after....damnnnnn.

They were such beautiful people! Its just so terrible they had to die in such a horrible manner. May their souls rest in peace.

In utter sorrow - now I remember this (story) with respect to the Jondles. Without words, except - how you (have) touched so many of us Marylin and Scott. So many warm blessings to you and your family.

Yours is a wonderful story, Marylin and Scott! Intriguing to learn of the evolution regarding how you previously lived...to now. Mostly a vegetarian for decades, I don't know if I could raise/eat animals for food again. Regardless, how I appreciate this approach - and am thankful that it is becoming increasingly valued - in contrast to the awful conventional feed lots. I yearn to meet a partner with whom I could share similarly...even simply a huge garden. Thank you for this inspiration!
