Can I recreate this painting for an art exhibition, which will take place in my own school?

Thanks for the info. I've been reading advice about using hard pastels to under-paint, to save tooth. They are chalk and some very soft pastels I want for top layers aren't. Can I mix them?

Enjoyed this tutorial very much. It's the best one I've found. Did some research and found I'm using good student grade medium soft. Ordered Sennelier soft starter set, add more as I can. Guess I can use my harder ones to block in. Will do your farmhouse again, and frame it. I'll be checking out some more of your lessons as well.

Thank you. I'm a beginner in pastels, love it so far. Learning a lot from you, thanks for explaining as you go. My main problem is highlighting. It doesn't show up well over the dark, even when I use good paper. Any suggestions?
