This is the first episode of the history telling of the origins of Junior Farmers in Ontario. Junior Farmers is a youth program that was started by the government of the province of Ontario in 1914 with 4 clubs. Since then it grew to every county in Ontario. Most of the history has since vanished. Many items of history were never kept, were destroyed or have simply vanished. The history noted in these videos is what has been collected and is not the final word on the history about Junior Farmers in Ontario. With the removal of many rural and agricultural based organizations from provincial government programming due to budget cuts in the 1990's, Junior Farmers is a youth program that is run for youth by youth. It's motto is "to build future rural leaders through self-help and community betterment".
