Located in the middle of the city of New Britain, CT, Urban Oaks Organic Farm, is a three-and-a-half acre farm that grows organic homegrown vegetables, herbs, flowers and fig trees. NBC Connecticut News profiled the farm and interviewed the general manager, Mike Kandafer. Urban Oaks is an excellent model for anyone considering starting or including an organic urban farm in a neighborhood reclamation project. Visit http://www.urbanoaks.org to learn more about the farm, the farm store, and directions.

@Socksee Yes, there are quite a few organic farms around CT. Visit ctnofa.org for a list of farms and farmers markets in the Nutmeg State. As for writing your Congressman, you might get an auto-reply but elected officials pay close attention to the email and snail mail that comes in. They keep track of issues important to their constituents. They need to know what's important to the electorate and, of course, the issues that will help them get elected next time. :-)

Wow that's awesome! I hope this sort of thing is happening all over CT. I'd write and ask my Congressman, Chris Murphy, about it, but all I ever get from him are those obnoxious auto-reply emails.
