Did a little hexacopter flight tonight just after one small storm went through York, ME and a larger thunderstorm was on its way in. So I started off in the back yard and flew it straight up. As we go up, you can see the big field that is down on Southside Road in York. In the distance you can see the coming storm. Way off you can see some of the tall stacks in Newington, NH with their blinking white lights. You can hear the rotors slow down and the craft stops its ascent. I programmed it to go no higher than 400 feet above my takeoff spot. That's what you hear when it hits that limit. So I started to yaw the craft to the left. The winds aloft hit the camera's microphone as it faces the oncoming breeze. As I rotate it left, Portsmouth Harbor and the Atlantic Ocean comes into view. I can see the Isles of Shoals. Then Brave Boat Harbor and York Harbor. Just between the harbor and the Nubble, you can see the small storm that came through and is heading out over water. Sunlight is hitting the top of the cloud. The York River cmes into view in the foreground. Then we have a good view of the Blaisdell farm along Southside road again with Mount Agamenticus beyond it in the distance. As we keep panning left I see the York River midway into the distance where I-95 and Route 1 cross. As we roll toward the oncoming storm, you can see a quick flash of lightning and all the low fog just above tree level. Then I turn the camera straight down and start a descent back to the back yard. Coming down around 6 feet per second fog rolls right in front of the camera and past. Hope you enjoy the little tour.
