We've been working and talking with our lawmakers daily, says New York Farm Bureau spokesman Steve Ammerman, referring to members of Congress, and their staff, on the latest that's going on in Washington. We're talking about our needs. Ammerman says some farmers have traveled to Washington to meet with members of Congress, expressing their need for some certainty as they plan the future of their livlihoods. We're lucky in New York that we have a very supportive congressional delegation, says Ammerman. Three members are on the house agriculture committee - Chris Gibson of Kinderhook, Chris Collins in the Buffalo area and Sean Patrick Maloney of Westchester. Our representatives get it. They understand the need. It's a leading industry in this state.
