if they told me I could not grow veggies I would laugh at them

Come on folks, you cant garden on land you don't own! There's nothing wrong with that law. Petition the local govt if you want to have a "community garden"!
-
And...he just had to ware a "Don't tread on me " shirt to make us all look bad. Propaganda.
-
Plant on your own property communist
-
them cops are ass holes.

Was there a point to this action?
I'm kind of not seeing the point.
Did he just want to get in a cops face, in the town's face, or was this intended to be some sort of protest?
My thought is that the government is not going to stay quiet forever.
There are a million people on Youtube trying to help other people grow successful gardens and a huge reason why is that most people are having a hard time making ends meet. Think about the financial havoc it would wreck if everyone of us had a successful garden that could feed our own families plus others.
Yeah we could wipe out hunger in our own country, but all the big factory type farms would be hurting. Drawing attention to the fact that people are now trying to work out ways to be more self-sufficient will NOT net anything good for the common man trying to grow his garden. Politicians will simply make more laws to limit people as much as possible to same industry who brings their money to the table in terms of lobbying. I think this should be a quiet revolution and a quiet exercising of freedom and human rights! -
that's not public you idiot... it's owned by the town and you cannot do that w/o permission.. and if you do not agree with me, what if he put a statue of a nude man there, what would you think then?

Retarded, counterproductive
-
Cops are the scum of the earth.
-
how is digging up a town park helping liberty - by making its advocates look suspiciously provocative?
-
y'all need to stop getting high and doing stupid stuff like this

The issue here seems to be the respect of property rights. Even though gardening is a productive thing, the man was not gardening on his own property. He was doing so on property that apparently belongs to the city.
Property rights are central to a free market society. If we don't respect property rights, then we lose our freedom. That said, government often tramples property rights via eminent domain. I'm sure the police officer would have rather been on a different assignment, but bottom line is that property rights were not respected. -

why would you tell the kkkops when and where you are planning to challenge their authority?? the idea of civil disobedience is to point out that they are NOT authorities over US!!
-
u are fucking right

Fruitless and misdirected efforts. It sends a message alright. That American patriots are nut jobs. If your going to take a stand be reasonable and make it count.
-
its destruction of property....that's why...it was state property....u need permission...just like if I walked into your yard and started digging it up...same thing.....I get the point if its illegal in your own yard then what dif does it make where u do it.....making gardening illegal to do at all is a CRIME in itself and our evil law makers should be tried and prosecuted by the people...I guess this stunt was to draw attention to the issue.
-
this was stupid....that is malicious destruction of property......idiots
-
You could probably get a permit to garden in public spaces. Bring a proposed project and image of what it would look like. Simply digging up public property is not the way to go.
-
In a city or town area, be smart! Get permission from a city council. Sign a petition. Don't draw attention to yourself.
