this old farming community is right at the outer edge of the chicago suburbs. the planes you hear are going to and from o'hare international airport. this was recorded summer 2013. some people comment that it's just a farm but i have another ghost town video from a place called irish town, new york, which was said to be a farming community from about 1880-1930. this place seems kinda like that except not as old. its several farms not just one, and there used to be more but some remains were recently repurposed. fwiw the reason I don't tell the world the location of this place is to protect this place from the world

O'Hare?! Midway is far more likely than O'Hare based on what I'm seeing here

Hahaha, that's a first for the comment. Although...if you are homeless, I know I shower more than you, Lol. Do you have squatters rights to this property?
-
wouldn't be surprised if it was the same farm my grandma and her siblings grew up on.
-
Well done I appreciated the silence because it made it feel more like I was on the adventure myself and added to the atmosphere......

What is this near? I don't want / need an exact location but I am curious as to how far from civilization it is as I live in the western suburbs. There is a lot of cool old stuff like this along the I&M canal corridor.
-
Interesting but I had to turn it off halfway through because I was getting dizzy from the camera continuously moving around so fast.
-
I wouldn't be surprised if you encountered some weirdly unexplained morphed-up alien creature just waiting for you in one of those buildings, I give kudos to you for the amount of bravery you had to take in making this video.

Great Vid. Cool channel. thanks for sharing
-
I been over there allot of times. me n my bm actually did some things over there too lol on some adventurous shit

Sad thing is, many of these properties are left in this condition so they can be claimed as a loss come tax time. :( Even the though the land could be redeveloped and made into small Tiny house communities or something, they're just forgotten dreams.

Thank you for sharing this. . Please always be safe when exploring. And if you are alone, get a firearms licensees and bring a gun or something to protect yourself with. The human element is a serious issue when doing this sort of thing.

Is this your very first explore? you could have made several vids just out of this one location instead of trying to cover the entire area all at once. Take your time and let us view some of the structures instead of flipping the camera back and forth so fast. I do understand if you were afraid of getting caught though. Kinda felt like someone was watching you.

Hi i am a rookie metal detector and wondering would you possibly let me metal detect on your land? I live in the Joliet area.

I'm from Southern Illinois in the poor farming area in Washington County. Most of the time these farms were abandoned due to the kids not taking intrest in farming and their parents dying off. We have lots of abandoned houses that are pre 1900's most have been torn down to make way for new farms or expanding farms but there are still plenty of old abandoned houses and farms. Be careful if you go exploring around here though, alot of people don't take kindly to unwanted visitors on their property you will probably be arrested for trespassing before you are shot lol. Also check out the Lively Family Massacre it gives a perspective of what it was like for some of the first settlers in this area.

This looks so cool. Good find. I've always been nervous to go to ghost towns, as you can't tell who might be hiding around the corner with a weapon. I know where one ghost town is, and I'd like to explore it, but I'm nervous for the previously stated answer. Any advice?

That would be Tobacco drying sheds at the start. I'm sitting here now smoking chop chop because Cigarettes are $27 a packet in Australia

That was actually very cool and interesting. Thank you for sharing! I can see that there was definitely multiple houses and it is not just one farm. :-)

I want the timber

I like to imagine what it looked like when it was a working farm. What the people who lived there looked like and did.
