" My friends laugh at me but anyone who has chickens willl know how cool they are. (besides being an absolute MUST if you want to become self sufficient. I sell fertile eggs and trade with the neighbours and we rear cockerals for the freezer. All scraps are boiled up in a big pot and fed back to the chickens so nothing goes to waste around here! I have the following breeds: Houdans (fancy) , North Holland Blues (dual purpose) (both these two are rarebreeds) Rhode Island Reds (dual purpose), White Leghorns (layers), Pekin Bantams and Araucanas (they lay the blue/green shelled egg) The dog and cat follow me around the garden and orchard while I feed the chooks and get some eggs. It is spring here in New Zealand so the daffodils and freisias are out and I caught a Tui in my Kowhai tree! :) My next video is going to be in my vegetable garden.

very nice! but if I may........ you have so much room that is covered in flowers or just grass while the chickens have very small enclosures : ( maybe think of fencing your place and all but the egg laying chicks could free range? if its done right with all the right plants and herbs as well as their daily grain , they wouldn't destroy the property : ) just a thought , great video and they all look very very healthy!!!

Very nice place you've got there. Gorgeous roosters and hens and lovely horses. It doesn't get much better than that.

In the U.S., those chickens are called Ameraucana, while the Araucana have ear tufts and no tail: http://www.ameraucana.org/faq.html#ONE I love your quiet little farm, though. I hope you make more videos!
