Driver Montrell Teague notched his 1,000th career driving win at Harrington Raceway. The 25 year old drove Henry The Dragon to a 1:54.3 victory. Montrell, who was voted the 2015 Rising Star of the Year by the United States Harness Writers Association, was joined by friends and family in the winner's circle for the milestone visit to victory lane. Congratulations to Montrell and wishing you continued success in the sulky sport! Many of you out there are probably familiar with Montrell Teague as being the driver of Wiggle It Jiggleit, the 2015 Harness Horse of the Year. Well, let me tell you about the amazingly busy month Wiggle It Jiggleit has had! Not only did he win Harrington Raceway’s signature race, the Bobby Quillen Memorial but just one day after that prestigious win, the four year old champion headed to Ohio where he took centerstage during Little Brown Jug week. No, not to compete compete in the Little Brown Jug....that race is for three year olds and, well, he won last year in epic style for owner George Teague. The equine champ returned this year to Delaware, Ohio to do a meet and greet with fans. We’re talking harness racing fanatics from all over the world waiting in line to chat with driver Montrell Teague, trainer Clyde Francis and caretaker Big Mike Taylor and be able to get close to greatness and a quick pic with Wiggle It Jiggleit. Not only did Wiggle It Jiggle it spend time with fans in Delaware, Ohio but he also led the post parade for an elimination for the Little Brown Jug. What’s even more fantastic is that the opportunity to sit next to Montrell for this special post parade was auctioned off by the retirement adoptions group New Vocations and the highest bid for $2,500 went to horse owners The Carsey Family and Brenna Carsey rode next to Montrell for this memorable lap around the Delaware Ohio oval. And, it goes with out saying that everybody wants to take a ride with Montrell and Wiggle It Jiggleit so duo headed back to the First State and at The Teague Farm. The number one rated horse in the country took Congressman John Carney and Senator Bethany Hall Long for a spin! Both Congressman Carney and Senator Hall Long have been big supporters of our Standardbred sport and it’s contributions to Delaware’s income and agricultural industry.
