This works great for me! Thank you! So easy to follow as well. Getting quite a lot of drops. I skipped the hopper cart as the hoppers seem to pick up all the items fine. Blooming great tutorial :)

Thank you Snocrash. Works with Spigot 1.11.2. I did have to move the build down a few blocks. Otherwise I hit the 256 build limit on my server.

I built it, but nothing spawns. What did i make wrong? I even change it on hard and still nothing spawns...

if i want to afk how far do i need to be?

I dont need any enderpearls, but I want the other drops and I dont have a ocean nearby, can I build it above land? (I know the rates will decrease)

I built this in survival on pc and everything was working fine, till I leave and come back. the redstone freezes, it looks like it's the 2nd hopper clock freezing even when first clock is sending a signal. Any idea why this happens when I leave and come back?

could we put magma blocks at the bottom instead of carpet to kill of any unlikely survivors?

EVERYONE - Very Important: Make sure your render distance is 12 or higher. It makes a huge difference in the amount of mobs you get.

I'm wondering if a code change has broken this somehow in 1.11.2??
I built this farm on my SP world some time ago and it's been the best mob farm! I haven't used it much lately as it produces so many drops that I have a large number of chests full and haven't needed to AFK here lately.
My SP world is 1.11.2 now and I've come to AFK for some more string but no mobs are spawning... :( I haven't changed anything on the farm or build anything anywhere near it.
Has anything changed in the 1.11.2 release that affects how mobs spawn that could stop the farm working? -
Why do you need packed ice? It doesn't make mobs move any faster; only items.

why not have the mobs fall right on to the layer of hoppers?. Why add another step where theres a hopper minecart scooping all the items up?
