Mob farm for 1.8 which works great on skyblock or suvival servers. Just make this 50 blocks above the ground or something and let the mobs fall to their death. Drops will be collected by hoppers under the farm. I built this on skyblock server and its 0 drops per hour. Server on Normal, all places lit up thre is perfect spot in sky for farm. What the hack???

I have successfully created this farm at about 130Y over the sea. 15 minutes of waiting, no mobs. I'm ~34 blocks away from spawning pads. 1.8.3

I haven't built this farm yet, but I was wondering, why is it that whenever I build a mob farm in the sky the mob spawning rates are really slow. I thought when you build then really high in the sky since the chunks below were to far they didn't count as spawning spaces for the mobs so any farm high in the sky should be the same as a void world. PLEASE EXPLAIN.

This only works if mobs are able to spawn in the world. If they do it should work.
If mob spawning is of this won't work. -
