In this Minecraft Tutorial, we show how to equip a farm with a new killing mechanism for slimes that works in Minecraft 1.8. In 1.7, I had a farm that used iron golems as a killing mechanism, but in 1.8 they get killed by the slime. For that reason, I set out to create a slime farm compatible with 1.8, and that is exactly what I accomplished and am portraying in this video. This video is not a tutorial on building slime spawning platforms, but on killing slime in 1.8. Slime spawning has not changed in the last few updates, so you can look at any video or base your slime farm spawning platforms off of my brief explanation in this video. The slime balls tend to pop out the top of the killing area.

How far and were do you afk?

nice video, just a couple of tips:
1. if you build the slimefarm the entire 16x16 erea, and then dig out the 3 wide erea around it, you'll get more drops than what you are using right now.
2. slimes can't spawn on glowstone, because it is a non solid block. If you use jack o lantern instead, you will increase the spawnrates of the slimes.
3. Light up every cave within 128 blocks from your AFK point, to optimise spawnrates.
4. Make sure you are further away than 24 blocks from the nearest place for the slimes to spawn. If you are closer than 24 blocks, slimes wont spawn there (for example: if you are at y10, slimes will only spawn at y34 or higher, regarding that you stay at the same x and z coordinate). so just move at least 24 blocks in the x or z direction away from the farm to provide optimal spawn rates.

I had to turn your video off after about 15 seconds. All the jumping around made me so nauseated I thought I was going to be sick.

I found a slime chunk via ChunkBase and confirmed it with Amidst. I made 8 spawning pads 10x10 each starting from Y=39 down to Y=11. There are no caves around whatsoever and I have lit up everything that could spawn other mobs. I sat AFK for about 4 hours and got 0 slimeballs. Why is that? Any help?

works perfect thank you. I find that they will drown in any pool 3 deep even all source blocks. I built this on a skyblock series and i have gaggles of slime now.(and it sells for alot).

have you experiemented if cactus instead of drowning would be more effective?

Also use the slime finder app, if u put in the seed and you cawordinets it will tell you the closest slime chunk, it worked for me

THis isn't working for medium or large slimes for me. Only smalls... The meduims just hang out outside and never get pushed in.

I can't place the signs the way you did... It won't let me place them on another sign (in mid air). 1.8.3.

I copied this design, but I observed slimes entering the drowning pool and upon taking damage, they simply exit the pool. This happened almost all the time.

Can some1 help me? When i stay 3 blocks away from the chunk they spawn more but when i stay 6 blocks they spawn less?
