That is just ridiculous!
-
The US government wants to make everything big ag. It's sad, very sad.
-
Well, there's a simple solution to this, folks. If you're not an idiot, you'll simply KEEP raising your animals as you please. If ALL people banded together, there would not be these problems. But no... all they want to do is complain individually. Woosies.
-
I'm sorry you're having problems; maybe you could address this through the local zoning laws there, maybe hire an attorney that can help you and other like you get an exception... Michigan's Right to Farm Act, GAAMPs, and What They Mean. While it's good to be considerate of others, I just think people have a right to raise some farm animals if they can care for them.

Bullshit. ..all of it.

So sorry I couldn't tune in but Hungry Hubby and I are not surprised by this at all.

Like I told Michigansnowpony, I will continue to grow and raise whatever the hell I want until they me otherwise, then I will move out of state. It was made to protect big Ag not the little guy. All it takes is one neighbor with a grudge. -Michelle

as long as you pay taxes on your property they should stay out of what you grow to eat on your own property, If they get too ridiculous with who can farm & who can not move out of Michigan & don't buy anything grown in Michigan ,see how long before they change their attitude & start begging you to come back. bet it would be quick

I LIVE IN MICHIGAN AND IT USE TO BE A GREAT STATE TO LIVE IN ANYMORE I WANT TO LEAVE THIS STATE BECAUSE OF THE WAY IT IS RUN AND THE UNFAIR TAXES IN THIS STATE 10% OF ALL TAX MONEY IN MICHIGAN GOES TO THAT ARMPIT OF A COUNTY( WAYNE ) WHICH OF COURSE IS WHERE DETROIT THE MURDER CITY IS WHY SHOULD WE HAVE TO SUPPORT THE SLUMS OF WAYNE COUNTY I DO NOT KNOW. INFACT IT IS GETTING HARDER TO SAY THAT I AM PROUD OF MY COUNTRY. AND THAT REALLY HURTS I AM A TRUE AMERICAN THAT IS TIRED OF BIG BUSINESS COMING FIRST BEFORE TAX PAYERS AND CITZENS. ILLEAGAL ALIENS HAVE MORE RIGHT THAN THE CITIZENS DO.. AS A COUNTRY WE NEED TO CHANGE OR WE ARE GONNA END UP JUST THE SOVIET UNION SPLIT UP AND SEPERATED.

This is the same Michigan where the fallen husk that was Detroit is located ... right?
What about the folk that are there reclaiming that ghost town to feed the people? I guess they are law breakers too. -
This is why I am moving from a suburban county of Atlanta metro to rural South Carolina.

As a Michigan resident, I just see this as another ploy by big ag to stop the production of food by people who want animals treated better, and food grown organically. Prices are going up this summer, they don't wan't a bunch of people growing their own food. Everyone should just put in the biggest garden they can, and get meat rabbits and quail to raise in the garage...Just sayin' and of course write their reps in Lansing and remind them that their rights are being violated and ask them what they are going to do about it...Talk to all the people running for office. this is an election year...Let's get busy, call and email and write....And by the way, Bev, love the new hair cut. Makes you look forever young and beautiful!

This has been effect in a lot of the more rural towns, in the county I lived in.. when I was younger we could have rabbits, and probably chickens, we didn't but others did. However, there was a case in Lansing, in one of the more western suburbs, about a woman/family who had pigmy goats, and some other animals , on her property. This isn't just about animals.. you watch, it will come to gardens. Then you'll see a brouhaha.
