Mountain View Orchard is a second generation, family owned and operated farm located in Stafford County VA. Tony Cheng arrived in the United States from Hong Kong in the 1960's and has become a successful restaurateur in Washington DC. In the 1980's, Tony Cheng began growing juicy and sweet Asian Pears for his family and friends and the response was so favorable that he expanded his farm and began growing the fruit commercially. After much trial and error to select the varieties best suited for production in the Mid Atlantic, today the Chengs farm over 300 acres in Stafford County, producing thousands of sweet Asian Pears for Harris Teeter each summer and fall. The Chengs are also working on producing White Peaches, Persimmons, and other specialty tree fruit in the near future.
