Heavy rain soaked Phoenix, Arizona, Tuesday morning, leading to flash floods and prompting at least a dozen rescues of residents and motorists trapped in vehicles and homes by high water. As much as 5 inches of rain fell in the area, shutting down roads, trapping cars and flooding farms — and more rain could hit the area this week.

Massive is a realtive term. Anytime we get rain in Arizona we go a bit loony, we crash our cars, we slip on the driveway. The washes fill up. Because the storm drain systems were designed by Tusken Raiders, and because it is almost always clogged with empty poweraide bottles, we frequently deal with some unexpected street flooding.

row row row your boat gently down the stream whahahahahaha

In the north east they would have just kept driving.

It seems they could have designed that drainage a lot better. Maybe to divert water into the actual drain instead of farther down the road?
