Owner Tim Toben didn't describe his North Carolina Pickards Mountain Eco-Institute as officially part of the Transition Movement, but it fits in well. Farm manager Margaret Krome-Lukens is part of the Transition Town movement (helped Chapel Hill/Carrboro, NC become one). She shows us the garden, her cob home and the pigs.

STOP with the lies of Global Warming and all it's lies, Satellites have tracked the temp since they were made, and they show Global Warming is a farce or lie.
Do some work and look at the facts, each and every so-called scientist who agreed with or said Global Warming was an issue was also PAID by the Gov. in the way of large Grants. -
I see electricity.

A gift is something given through choice. Did the animals that you treat like pets, the ones you form a bond of trust with til you betray them by having them killed so you can eat them, give you the gift of their life? How can you be sad about them being killed by your choice then happily chomp away on their flesh? Why do you need to do that anyway? Why not be happy with their contribution being manure to grow stuff? I wouldnt bother raising these issues with people who dont care but she seems to care and yet.. ya know... creeps me right out.. yukkk

how do you decide how much land you need to grow your vegetables?

Farmers don't get to travel, though.

2016 gloabl percentage of renewable energy sources 1%.
We won`t even make it up to 50% until 2050. It is not profitable enough for the psychopaths in charge.
I just hope at least a few people will survive the next 80 years in rural communities in the parts still livable in the far north of asia, europe and america. -
"i hope its not too late, and i will operate on that assumption"... yaaass

Wow. What a globalist commie. Shoving people into urban centers is flat out communism, so is "reserving all rural areas..." This is America, our birthrate is low and our land is vast.. Our Constitution guarantees rights of property. This man sounds like a globalist commie or someone who has not traveled the landscape of the USA. Wealthy clueless guy looking to move and learn, something others have been raped from due to globalist corporatist commies & big government taxes & regulations on small businesses. P.S. Dying plants creates CO2, that we need to live. We don't need fools trying to dictate Americans' lives.

the thing about raising the animals is that it just takes so much more resources to fatten the animals up. It is so much easier to just eat the food ourselves.

"greatest catastrophic period in the history of the earth"? That was ugly, but didn't an asteroid kill all the dinosaurs, just to name a few. Holy hyperbole Batman.
-
I think that once 3d printing and drones makes constructing buildings have a lower cost, then farming will go vertical and stop taking up so much surface land

Why did the camera man keep zooming in on her booty

I liked what you guys are doing and was nodding my head agreeing up until you started talking about the pigs. You talk about forming a bond connection and giving them a happy life yet kill them for food? That is so inside out and backwards.... smh

The human brain needs animal fats to function properly. (even if that's just milk and butter) "No animal products" is a brain deficiency that perpetuates itself.
