As mentioned the trip to North America has been a great success. I had gone basically to attend the annual mela of Gadri Babas in Fresno, California (USA). A gist of what I spoke was mentioned on the facebook a couple of days ago. Later I also had a chance to visit some of the farms of our fellow Punjabis and I was greatly impressed by the mechanisation that they have adopted. Most of them in Fresno area are growing almonds, apricots and grapes. May be the Punjab and Haryana governments should learn from these practices and adopt some of these things here. I also visited Sacramento and Yuba City, which was then preparing for the annual Nagar Kirtan. Though initially most of our people had gone there for agriculture but now a new generation of professionals have taken over. In San Jose area, which is also known as Silicon Valley, I was wonderstruck by the work some of our people from South India and Punjab are doing. Since Punjab has been talking of developing Mohali as an IT destination, there is a lot one can learn from them. But first we have to create the basic facilities and then an IT culture would follow. I was deeply touched by the warmth by our people. Later I had a chance to visit Toronto, Brampton and Mississauga area of Canada. It appears our people from Punjab have truly arrived there! Due to shortage of time I could not meet a lot of people who were in touch with me. My apologies. I promise to make up next time when I come for a longer period. There are a couple of pending invitations for lectures from North America. More from India later....
