This video depicts the installation of a denitrifying bioreactor installed on a farm in southern Black Hawk County, Iowa to treat the discharge from a farm tile drainage system on approximately 80 acres. The 100'x30' pit was dug out and lined with plastic before dumping in about 400 yards of wood chips. Then a fabric barrier was placed on top and the bioreactor was covered with about 2' of black soil. Control structures at each end are used to manage the retention time and collection rate of the bioreactor.
