La Motte Wine Estate is a historic wine estate situated in the Franschhoek Valley. It consists out of a wine tasting facility, restaurant, courtyard where people can sit on sofas or children can play, a farm shop and a museum. As the 2012 South African winner of the Great Wine Capitals of the World's Best of Wine Tourism competition, the estate's tourist offering is very popular. Wine is the most important element and La Motte is internationally recognised for award-winning wines. The restaurant focuses on Cape Winelands Cuisine, the traditional food of the Winelands and the La Motte museum introduces visitors to its history and activities, while sharing the very special private collection of Pierneef artworks as well as a contemporary exhibition. History and architecture as well as sustainable farming are also important and are evident from the historic buildings and gardens on the farm.
