Know your Farmer. Here on Kauai, we are fortunate to have local farmers markets almost every day of the week at various locations around the island. Kauai Farmacy has been blessed to participate in this dynamic community of homesteaders and land-caretakers at the Kilauea Na Aina Hou Farmers Market Saturdays from 9-noon. We are privileged to erect our tent and share our fresh herbal produce, fresh brewed and cured loose leaf teas, fine herbal powders and herbal extracts amongst this versed farming community. With live Hawai’ian music from an extraordinary local musician, Kanazawa Ke Kahu, produce fresh picked that morning, locally cultivated and cured honeys, medicinal products, and plant starts, this is a market worth attending. Sometimes I wonder, is it the farmer that takes care of the land, or the land that takes care of the farmer? In our case, here at Kauai Farmacy it is much less of a gray area, for I know the land (the Kauai’ Aina) has bestowed great health and clarity to me and my family through the herbal plants that grow organically on the farm. The Saturday morning farmers market is our opportunity to share this gift with others in the community as well as travelers journeying through the Hawai’ian Island chain.
