Problems come and go... looking for the answer to the seemingly electrical problems in my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Sometimes stalls within 15 seconds of starting up. If lights are turned on, gauges turn off. AC on other things turn off. Lights go dim.. the list goes on. Any help would be greatly appreciated

The gauges on 1996 Jeep Cherokee dashboard do not reset when I turn off the engine. It is my first Jeep so im wondering if that is normal?

1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Same problem. I install new alternator and battery.Clean electric connector from battery to alternator, and no more electric problems.

hello my truck was falling needles board is going power to the air conditioning and windows that can be that wrong?

2000 JGC WJ. No power to (doors, windows, radio and column) anything inside except dome and headlights. I changed battery, positive cable, checked grounds and nothing. I get 12v through out the distribution center except the o2 sensor,Trans solenoid and ignition (fuse seats). Fuses and relays all check out. I say seats because under hood fuse box there are 3 places that aren't getting any volts to it but all other seats get 12v. Any help would be grateful..

Only my drivers door window will row down, and when I turn my headlights on, my interior lights are very dim. The 4.0 Straight Six engine kicks ass, I'm at almost 170,000 miles and it's still going, but the electrical problems are a bit annoying.

if you get dash lights flickering or going out altogether, don't buy a new switch right away.remove your old one and re solder the pin connections at the circuit board.leave it plugged in so the pins stay in alignment.Apparently Jeep makes a good vehicle but some of the foreign parts they use are B.S.Fixed mine in an hour. same thing when the ABS light came on.Checked all wheel sensors and tone rings. All good. resoldered main power in pins on the input plug board and its good as new!

On 02-01, driver door stopped working and problems ensued with the alarm and disarming of the fuel injectors, so vehicle would start but not run whill system alarm was flasing lights and blow in horn. The keyless entry would unlock the rest of car, but not driver door, nor would driver door respond to the power lock switch on the passenger door. And the power lock switch on the driver door would only work on the driver door. Tried several forum suggestions, but realized that driver door acuator was likely culprit. I did disconnect the horn from the fuse panel under the hood to be polite to my neighbors as I continued to try many combinations of locking and unlocking with the key and keyless entry. Left battery disconnected over night, hoping it might reset everything and do the trick as it supposedly did for some according to forums.
So, on morning of 02-02, no luck for any improvement. Ordered a driver door acuator ($119 at Autozone, but had a credit and discount, so $90 after tax) and tried to disable factory alarm, while waiting for the part, but had no luck.
Fortunately, the part arrived early afternoon and was a relatively simple install. Once the install was complete and battery reconnected, the alarm was not alarming Jeep fired right up. I immediately drove to the end of my road and back, but in retrospect I should have driven around for several minutes. As I parked, I noticed the instruments had all stopped working and all the dash lights were on.
After I parked, turned off the vehicle and then started again, no instruments, all dash lights and sporadic idling.
Disconnected battery and let Jeep sit about 15 minutes, still no instruments, all dash lights and now it started, revved high and cut off. Attempted to perform several PCM resets to no avail. Left the battery connected, this time, over night and studied many forums. When I went out this morning to try another PCM reset, but when I tried the keyless fob, WA-LA! Driver door unlocked. Put key in, turned to power on vehicle, but not start yet, and again WA-LA! Have fuel and voltage instruments functioning. Started right up, idled normally, gauges working, so drove a 5 mile loop to let vehicle warm sufficiently past 160 degrees, as recommended after PCM reset, per Chrysler factory engineer posting in a forum post. Have started it several times since and now just need to decide how brave I am about driving it out of town tomorrow.

Will all I can say is my key light came on and the same thing happen. You need to replace the pcm. On the right side of the fire wall. There 180 dollars. I think . You can do your self.

Hey try to lock and unlock the door and then start it. Mine did the same thing. It's the alarm . My key light came on. And sense I do that now it's ok . I'd be driving and all the tack speed gauge go off window stop working. So try the key thing😂

ok my 1993 jeep grand cherokee laredo was working just fine a few months ago. Now all of a sudden it started to sputter and want to cut itself off while driving slow or coming to a stop so we have to use two feet one for the gas and one for the break. I replaced the oil and filter the air filter and the breather cap. I may need to get a tune up and replace the wires and the spark plugs to see if tha'ts the problem. I need help to identify the problem. i have a V8 in it.

I just worked on a friends jeep today that was having surge problems from 9 to 18 volts randomly, checked everything, he even bought a new pcm yesterday, and I found on his it was the timing advance controller (where the distributor would be for an older version) all we did was clean the plug and and put some die-electric grease on it and it fixed it.

1998 Grand Cherokee, thought I had a bad battery, had to jump start it many times til I could afford a new one. But sometimes after jumping it it would over charge the battery, max out the (gauge). Now I'm not so sure. When I connect it to the insta-start unit I have I can't even roll the windows up or down. Did I mess up something else like a computer chip or will changing out the alternator or battery fix this? Help me!!!
