Show us your devotament by visiting http://saveourkids.jdrftype1.com Since its founding more than 40 years ago by parents of children affected by type 1 diabetes, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) has been committed to finding a cure for all those individuals living with the disease. Today, JDRF acknowledges that this commitment will not likely be fulfilled in the near term. Although our ultimate goal—curing type 1 diabetes—remains unchanged, we are equally committed to better treating and preventing the disease. These goals aim to ensure that both children and adults living with type 1 diabetes remain healthy so that they can fully benefit from a cure when it becomes available. JDRF focuses on supporting the development and delivery of new therapies and devices that will ease the daily burden and challenges of managing type 1 diabetes and on the prevention of diabetes complications. Additionally to protect future generations from developing type 1 diabetes JDRF is supporting approaches to prevent the disease. http://www.louisvillefoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/2014-2015_UofL_Foundation_Donor_Honor_Roll-WEB.pdf jdrf kentucky aflred f. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. Out of the estimated 24 million people with diabetes, one third, or eight million, don’t know they have the disease. Diabetes develops when the body doesn’t make enough insulin or is not able to use insulin effectively, or both. As a result, glucose builds up in the blood instead of being absorbed by cells in the body. The body’s cells are then starved of energy despite high blood glucose levels. Symptoms of diabetes include increased urination, increased thirst, unexplained weight loss. Other symptoms can include fatigue, blurred vision, increased hunger, and sores that do not heal. People can manage their diabetes with meal planning, physical activity, and if needed, medications. Type 1 Diabetes can occur at any age, but most commonly is diagnosed from infancy to the late 30s. Type 1 diabetes happens when your immune system destroys cells in your pancreas called beta cells. They’re the ones that make insulin. What Treatments are Used for Type 1 Diabetes? The two goals of diabetes treatment are to make sure you feel well day-to-day and to prevent or delay long-term health problems. The best way to reach those goals is by: - taking insulin - planning your meals—choosing what, how much, and when to eat - being physically active You want a cure. So does JDRF. The Health Care and Social Assistance sector comprises establishments providing health care and social assistance for individuals. The sector includes both health care and social assistance because it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between the boundaries of these two activities. The industries in this sector are arranged on a continuum starting with those establishments providing medical care exclusively, continuing with those providing health care and social assistance, and finally finishing with those providing only social assistance. The services provided by establishments in this sector are delivered by trained professionals. In 1861 Charles Landis purchased a vast acreage in the area in order to establish a utopian city. Houses were constructed in 1862 and train service connected Vinland with New York City and Philadelphia. Landis forbid the sale of alcohol and required the new landowners to build a home on the land within a year of buying the property. He also required the residents to clear the wooded land and be involved in farming every year. Landis thought the soil was excellent for growing grapes. He began advertising in order to entice Italian grape growers to the town. Thomas Bramwell Welch, the founder of Welch's Grape Juice bought the grapes grown in Vineland. The city was incorporated in 1880.
