Farms: Introduction: Wyeth's demonstration farm projects

Take a virtual tour of Matt and Lynley Wyeth’s farm: Spring Valley Enterprises in the Wairarapa. The Wyeths are proud sheep and beef farmers who farm 1000ha, with 12,500 stock units. The Wyeths have a high-performing breeding and finishing property. - They produce 7.5 tonne/dm per ha through 170ha plantain/clover mixes and 60ha fodder crops. - They sell 325 carcase weight per hectare, giving a conversion rate of 21.3 kg/dm per kg carcase weight. One of the key goals of the Wyeths is to increase on-farm production and efficiency. In 2013 they took the opportunity to work with Beef + Lamb New Zealand through the Demonstration Farm Project. There are four trials underway on their farm – Orphan Lamb, Triplet Transfer, Early Weaning and R2 Grain Assist.
